Content Development and Online Delivery
Tatonga has been developing classroom, eLearning and hybrid courses for CASA since 2012. The eLearning courses Tatonga Studio has developed for CASA are mainly focused on agricultural safety. A few examples of courses we have developed for CASA include Confined Space (2021), Tractor Machinery Safety (2019), Protecting Vulnerable Workers (June 6, 2022), Farm Safety Orientation (February 25, 2022), Supervisor Training Course (July 13, 2022), Firefighter Rescue Training. Tatonga also provided some of these courses in both English and French. Tatonga developed a selection of these courses from scratch, researched and wrote all content, provided subject matter experts, full course design and development, added interactivity and animations, and wrote and developed competency quizzes. In other cases, Tatonga converted and adapted existing classroom or hands-on learning courses into eLearning courses, incorporating interactivity, animations, and videos.
CASA hired Tatonga Studio to conduct a literature review on farm worker safety training programs to determine successful approaches to training. As part of this project, we were also tasked with compiling a list of available Canadian farm safety training and resources to identify gaps or topics/areas in need of development. One conclusion from the research was the need for more training for supervisors of farm workers. This research evolved into the project assigned to Tatonga Studio, to develop the Occupational Health and Safety Farm Supervisor eLearning course. We provided the subject matter experts, researched the topic, gathered relevant resources and wrote all content. Our instructional design and development team created the eLearning course, added in scenarios, games, interactivity, animations, suitable imagery and competency checks. Our writers edited and scripted the course for narration. We also incorporated instructional best practices for farm worker learning, discovered in the research phase of the project. This project went full circle through our Tatonga team. The Supervisor eLearning course was completed September 2022. The client is now piloting the OHS Farm Supervisor eLearning course and will be gathering feedback and expanding the course offerings with supplemental, add-on modules in the future.
